Detailed itinerary
You will be picked up from the airport on arrival in Kigali, be briefed on the trip itinerary and proceed to Kigali city for a short tour and lunch. You will then head out on a journey to the famous Nyungwe forest, one of the remaining montane forest in the region. You will drive through the countryside enjoying scenic views of the landscape and later arrive at the park in the evening. Check in at the lodge, relax, have dinner and overnight there.
Breakfast will be served early enough and then head out to the starting point for a short briefing from the park offices to be guided on the dos and don’ts of this amazing wildlife experience. You will then hit the jungle and start the search for habituated chimps in their natural home. You will be given a full hour encounter from the time of contact and be allowed to interact with them as you learn about their individual behavior. The guides will then lead you to the starting point to meet your guide and go for your lunch. After lunch, you will go for another exciting activity known as the Canopy walk. This suspended walkway stretches 200 meters long and is 60 meter on the treetops. You will return to the lodge to have relaxation, have dinner and overnight.
After your breakfast at the lodge, you will transfer to the volcanoes National Park with a stopover at the twin lakes Burera and Ruhondo. These Twin lakes are strategically located especially on your way to the Volcanoes National park and their close proximity makes them such a great attraction for tourists. You will then proceed to Volcanoes National Park and check in at the lodge, have dinner and overnight.
Breakfast is served very early and the guide will drive you to the starting point where all tourists gather for briefing on the dos and don’ts of Gorilla tracking. You will then be led into the forest to search for the gorilla family allocated to you. After meeting the gorillas, you will be given a whole hour of interaction with them as you lean and monitor their behavior in their natural habitat. These forest giants are very protective and will be seen guarding their members especially their leader-silverback. Return to the starting point after this wild experience and be on your way to the lodge to have lunch/dinner and rest. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
The day begins with a tasty breakfast and then proceed to the park offices for briefing like it is the case with Gorilla tracking. Golden monkeys share the same habitat (Volcanoes National Park) with the Gorillas and on some occasions you may meet a gorilla family as you track the golden monkeys. A team of guides will take you on a hike to the mountains in search for a habituated group of golden monkeys. You will return to meet your guide later, have lunch and be on your way to Kigali for your final flight.
